• The 3-time Quarter-finals, Switzerland, will lock horns with the 1990 Quater-finals, Cameroon in Group G opener fixture in the 2022 FIFA World Cup at the Al Janoub Stadium, Al Wakrah on Wednesday, 24th November, 2022 morning in Qatar.

• The 2022 FIFA World Cup is the 22nd edition since the competition started in 1930 is the 12th appearance for Switzerland while it is the 8th appearance for Cameroon.

• HEAD-TO-HEAD

• The Group G Round 1 showdown on Thursday, 24th November, 2022 will be Switzerland and Cameroon First ever meeting.

• The Red Crosses of Switzerland are currently ranked 15th in the World by FIFA latest rankings on 6th October, 2022, their first International game was 12th February, 1905 (France 1-0 Switzerland [Paris, France].

• Xherdan Shaqiri is participating at the FIFA World Cup for the fourth successive time, matching the Swiss record held by Valon Behrami (2006-2018).

• Vincent Aboubakar scored eight (8) goals for Cameroon in the 2021 African Cup of Nations, the most by any player in a single edition since Ndaye Mulamba with Zaire in 1974 nine (9) goals. However, Vincent Aboubakar has failed to register a single shot on target in each of his four (4) previous appearances in the FIFA World Cup.

• Vincent Aboubakar, Nicolas Nkoulou and Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting are the only members of the Cameroon squad with previous FIFA World Cup experience, all three are appearing at their third final tournament.
