• The 2026 FIFA World Cup will be the 23rd edition since the tournament started in 1930, and this edition will take place from June 11 to July 19, 2026.

• The tournament will be the first FIFA World Cup to be hosted by three nations: Mexico, Canada, and the United States. It will be jointly hosted by sixteen cities - three in Mexico, two in Canada, and eleven in the United States. As the host nations, Mexico, Canada, and the United States all automatically qualified. 

• Since the maiden edition in 1930, eighteen (18) countries have hosted the FIFA World Cup, most recently Qatar, which hosted the 2022 event. 

• The 2026 tournament will be jointly hosted by Mexico, Canada, and the United States, which will give Mexico the distinction of being the first country to host games in three FIFA World Cups. 

• Mexico and South Africa will repeat the opening fixture of the 2010 FIFA World Cup, exactly 16 years after their 1-1 draw in Johannesburg, and coincidentally, it was on June 11, 2010. It's the first time an opening fixture has ever been repeated from the 19 previous single-match FIFA World Cup openers.
