Ghanaian side Bibiani Gold Stars suffered a 2-0 loss to JS Kabylie in the first leg Preliminary of the CAF Champions League.

Bibiani Gold Stars' debut season in the African competition after crowning champions of the Ghana Premier League for the first time in their history.

The Algerian giants, JS Kabylie, shocked the Ghanaian team, Bibiani Gold Stars, at the Accra Sports Stadium on Saturday September 20, 2025 afternoon.

A goal in each half from JS Kabylie was enough to surpass the miners in the first round leg. JS Kabylie scored the opener, a well-worked team goal, in the 20th minute of the first half by Medhi Merghem.

The miners couldn't withstand the experience of the two-time CAF Champions League winners, who lifted the trophy in 1981 and 1990, respectively.

After the break, GoldStars stepped up their game and created numerous scoring chances, but their inability to capitalize on them ultimately proved costly.

Babacar Sarr doubled the lead for JS Kabylie in the 70th minute after brilliantly crossing from the left side of the attack.

With a 2-0 victory, JS Kabylie returns home with a valuable advantage ahead of the second leg next week.

The winner of this tie will progress to the second preliminary round, where they will face the winner of the East End Lions (Sierra Leone) vs US Monastir (Tunisia) matchup.
