Asante Kotoko Young Porcupines (U-17) thrashed their arch-rivals Hearts of Oak Royal Oaks (U-17) 3-0 in the Cheetah Cup 2025.
This impressive victory showcases the team's skills and dedication, making them a force to reckon with in the tournament.
The Match Highlights
- Anthony Duah scored the opening goal in the 14th minute, giving the Porcupines the lead.
- Before halftime, Takyi Addison doubled the lead for Young Porcupines with a well-executed play involving inter-position passes.
- In the second half, Royal Oaks conceded a third goal through an own player, sealing their fate.
About the Cheetah Cup 2025
The 2025 edition of the Cheetah Cup promises to be the most expansive yet, featuring 24 youth football teams from 13 African countries.
This prestigious grassroots tournament aims to provide a platform for young talents to shine and potentially get discovered by international scouts.
The tournament will take place in Senya Beraku, Ghana, from August 17 to 25, 2025.
Participating Countries and Teams
Some of the participating countries include:
- Ghana: Hosting the tournament with 12 clubs, including Asante Kotoko SC and Hearts of Oak
- Nigeria: Represented by HypeBuzz FC
- Burkina Faso: Featuring FC Salitas
- Cameroon: With Oyili FC
- Benin, Ivory Coast, Mali, Senegal, Togo, Liberia, Sierra Leone, Guinea, and The Gambia: Also participating in the tournament
The Cheetah Cup has grown in stature, attracting over 20 scouts, club directors, and agents from Europe and other parts of the world.
This provides a rare opportunity for young players to be discovered on a continental stage.
The stage is set as Asante Kotoko senior team will host Hearts of Oak senior team on Sunday, 24th August, 2025 in a match day 3 fixture in the 2025 GHALCA Top 4 tournament at the Accra Sports Stadium.
