PORCUPINE WARRIORS CLAIM NARROW 4-3 WIN OVER KWARA UNITED

Asante Kotoko secured a vital 4-3 win over Kwara United in the first leg in the preliminary round of the CAF Confederation Cup at the Accra Sports Stadium on Sunday, September 21, 2025.
From the opening whistle, the Porcupine Warriors dictated the pace, enjoying significant ball possession and keeping Kwara United on the defensive.
Emmanuel Antwi broke the deadlock with a strike in the 18th minute for Asante Kotoko.
The visitors, Kwara United, restored parity on the 34th minute through Aule Johnmark. Asante Kotoko dominated the midfield, controlling the tempo of play.
Albert Amoah extended their lead to 2-1 with a volleyed kick just before halftime. However, Kwara United's Aule Johnmark quickly responded with a brace in stoppage time.
Joseph Ablorh scored with a header from a corner kick in the 47th minute, putting Kotoko back in the lead.
Albert Amoah sealed the win with a penalty kick in the 73rd minute, making it 4-2 in favor of Kotoko.
Substitute Shola Abdulraheem scored Kwara United's third goal in the 85th minute, resulting in a final score of 4-3.
The return leg is scheduled for September 28, 2025, at the M.K.O. Abiola International Stadium in Nigeria.
The winner of this two-legged tie will face Moroccan giants Wydad Athletic Club in the next round.
