Hohoe United will welcome league leaders Medeama SC to their favored Hohoe Sports Stadium in Week 8 of the Ghana Premier League on Saturday, November 1, 2025. 

Hohoe United have struggled in their last two games, losing to Aduana and Medeama in home and away games, respectively. Medeama SC has been impressive in their last four games, winning three and drawing one in the ongoing Ghana Premier League. 

Hohoe United has shown promise, particularly at home, where they've been a tough opponent to beat.

Saturday's clash promises an intriguing battle, with contrasting home and away fortunes on the line. Desperate to make a statement, Hohoe United will host league leaders Medeama SC, who aim to solidify their top spot and end their away woes.

• Hohoe United, formerly known as Liberty Professionals, underwent a name change in June 2023. The change occurred after the sale of their Division One slot to new owners, led by Hon. John Peter Amewu, the then Member of Parliament for Hohoe. The Ghana Football Association (GFA) approved the name change after receiving the necessary documents from the new ownership group.

Here's a breakdown of the events:

February 2023: Liberty Professionals was relegated from the Ghana Premier League.

In June 2023, Liberty Professionals divested its slot in the Division One League to new owners, who then changed the club's name to Hohoe United. The Ghana Football Association (GFA) formerly approved the name change.

In June 2025, Hohoe United was crowned champions of the Division One League Zone 3 and secured promotion to the Ghana Premier League.

• The name "Kessben FC" was used since 2007-08 season. In January 2011, Kessben FC changed its name to Medeama Sporting Club after businessman Moses Armah 'Parker' completed a takeover of the club in 2010 and relocated it's base from Abrankese to Tarkwa.

Approval and New Name Usage: 
The Ghana Football Association (GFA) approved the name change, which reflected the new owners' ambitions. The new name, Medeama Sporting Club, was used for the second round of the 2010-11 football season.
