COACH MAXWELL KONADU BECOMES THE FIFTH COACH TO MANAGE BLACK SATELLITES WITHIN SEVEN YEARS

The Ghana Football Association has announced a new technical team to manage the Black Satellites, the U-20 male team.

Coach Maxwell Konadu has been appointed as the head coach, replacing Desmond Ofei, who previously led the side and has now been reassigned as an assistant coach to the Black Stars under Otto Addo.

Over the past seven years, Ghana's U-20 team, which serves as a feeder team to the senior national team Black Stars, has struggled to produce quality talent for the senior side.

This issue stems from the lack of consistency in technical handling, with five different coaches appointed in the past seven years.

Recent Coaches of the Black Satellites:

- Jimmy Cobbah: 2018-2020 (730 days)
- Karim Zito: 2020-2022 (1073 days)
- Samuel Boadu: 2022-2023 (385 days)

- Desmond Ofei: 2023-2025 (717 days), removed from the position in June 2025 as part of a broader restructuring initiative by the GFA.

- Maxwell Konadu: Appointed in 2025, tasked with rejuvenating the team and guiding them towards success

The Ghana Football Association's restructuring strategy aims to enhance focus and improve performance across selected national teams by streamlining roles and eliminating scheduling conflicts.

This move is expected to bring greater clarity to the team-building process and create a more unified approach to Ghana's football development .
